While the filler was still wet, I placed the boat and whale in it, smoothing the material around them with a wet knife. This produces the small wave detail of the water's surface. When the filler was dry, I painted it with acrylic artists' colors using shades of blue with a touch of green. White paint was dry brushed onto the sea to create the bow wave and spume around the boat and Moby Dick. A coat of acrylic gloss medium finished the sea.
