Like many modelers, I am a real packrat, saving all kinds of odds and ends because I never know when that strange little bit of junk will be just what's needed to fashion some fitting or detail piece. Many years ago I went through a cigar smoking phase and one of the legacy's of that was a collection of very thin sheets of dark colored wood that had came wrapped around the cigars in their aluminum tubes. I laminated one of these thin veneers to a sheet of .015" styrene that had first been painted brown and cut the liftwood panels from it. I blackened the edge of the panels with a black marker and glued them into their niches with cyanoacrylate.
