I airbrushed the model with Floquil matte colors. The game illustrations showed several color combinations. Most featured a light hull and dark superstructure, so I painted the hull white and the upper works black. I made the mistake of using the flat black straight. The result is much too black and all detail is washed away. I should have toned it down with a few drops of white for scale color effect. The panels of "liftwood" on the bottom of the hull were made from very thin veneers of wood that came wrapped around cigars. The veneer was laminated with very thin plastic sheet and the panels were cut out. They were attached with superglue after the model was painted.
