Chuck dove the Shooting Star away from the oncoming Komet. He knew he had no chance of out-climbing the rocket-propelled fighter but he ought to have the edge in maneuverability. He pulled his machine into a tight turn and managed to get the bandit in his sights for a split second. He fired and was sure he hit the other ship but it climbed away from him with no apparent damage.
