The sail and rigging plans are my own creation, based on illustrations in the game materials and what I have learned about ships' rigging in years of building period ship models. The most distinctive feature is the sail carried below the hull. Otherwise the rigging is fairly conventional. The spars were made from dowels, chucked in a drill and shaped with files and sandpaper. The mainmast is unusual in that it goes straight through the hull and tapers above and below the hull. The lower end of the mainmast is fitted with a shoe on which the ship can rest when it is moored. I made the crosstrees and jaws of the boom and gaff from plastic and glued them to the spars with cyanoacrylate adhesive. The yards were stained with black felt tip pen and all the spars were given a coat of satin polyurethane varnish.
