I planned to use 1/8" brass tubing to support the model above its base, so I cemented two pieces of styrene tubing with an inside diameter of 1/8" on the centerline of the model. The forward tube was placed in the compass house that projects from the bottom of the hull. The aft support was placed so as to balance the center of mass rather than the center of the ship's length. Cross braces were cemented around the tubes for strength. Also seen in this photo is the wood deck laminated to the plastic deck and the two semi-circular gun platforms that project from each side of the vessel. I laminated some more wood decking and plastic and cut out two semi-circles. Another piece of plastic was cemented across the bottom of each of these pieces and the bottom of the deck.
