Moon 01

The kit used for this model is a resin kit produced by Wilco. It is 1/200 scale. I wish I could say it is a good kit but it isn't. Neither the fuselage nor the fin-tip nacelles are round in cross-section. The fuselage and fins had numerous bubbles in the resin, from pin-hole size to some much larger. The fins were warped to such an extent that they could not be straightened even by immersing them in hot water to soften the resin. That did remove a lot of the warping but could not get rid of all of it. Also, the fuselage is a bit too slim. Accurate plans of the Luna have only been available the last couple of years and this is an older kit. I suspect it was based on pictures and drawings which is why it is not as accurate as it could be.
