The Futura front and rear bumpers are molded with vertically ridged grills. These were opened with a high speed steel cutter in a moto-tool, leaving 1/2" wide center section in the rear bumper. The front bumper was reinforced with a vertical sheet plastic gusset to maintain structural rigidity. Then a triangular panel, slightly bowed outward, was cemented into the front bumper to replicate the prototype. Triangular filler pieces decreased the rake of the outside edge of the headlight cowling. The joint between the bumper and the side ridge pieces was filled with plastic scrap and filed and sanded to smooth contours.
