    When I built this model there was no kit of a Skate class submarine available in 1/700 scale, so I modified a Pit Road kit of the USS Nautilus. The Skate class subs looked very similar to the Nautilus but were shorter. I cut a section out of the middle of the kit's hull. I glued a short section of styrene tubing into the hull to strengthen it and help with keeping all the parts aligned.
