The "water" in which the X-Wing rests is a clear sheet of acrylic plastic that was spray painted on the bottom in brown and green. A lighter brown was swirled on the top around the model with a paint brush to represent disturbed bottom mud. The model is glued to the acrylic sheet. Finally, a coat of Future gloss clear was applied to produce a "wet" look and to fill any tiny gaps between the model and the base sheet.
