The model was built out-of-the-box except for the omission of the laser head weapons that were supplied with the kit to be fitted into recesses in the bow. I didn't care for the way they looked and the concept didn't make sense to me. Vulnerable parts of the weapons like the laser heads should be inside the ship, protected by the hull's armor, and firing through ports in the bow (which the mounting holes for kit parts provided). The kit is a very clean casting and a minimum of filling and sanding was required after the two parts of the hull were attached with epoxy.
