This diorama depicts a battle between JDS Myōkō and an alien "Stinger" that takes place early in the movie, soon after the aliens and the human ships first encounter each other.

The movie flopped fairly hard but I like it. There is plenty of action between the alien and Earth ships and it is well done. Sure, the movie gets a little silly at times but it is fun. Given my interest in both naval technology and science fiction, this was a natural modeling subject for me.
