This attractive illustration (used on the cover of "Hoka") is by the talented science fiction artist Michael Whelan. It is a reinterpretation of the famous portrait done by Jacques-Louis David in 1801, "Bonaparte Crossing the St. Bernard Pass," as if it had been painted on Hoka. This was a useful reference since the pose is similar to that of the Airfix cuirassier kit. In particular, the Airfix horse was modified to resemble the mount depicted on the cover.
