Ten thousand feet below, Andre's P-80 pulled out of its spin at the head of a fjord. It bored straight down the narrow valley 300 feet above the water at 550 miles per hour. It shot out the fjord's mouth and kept going over the open sea.Blackhawk's headphones clicked and Andre's voice sounded in his ears, "Mon ami, mission accomplished!"
Blackhawk keyed his mike, "Okay, Blackhawks, Andre's out. Time to stop playing games."
The red and silver jets, till now engaged in individual dogfights, suddenly joined into a team. The six aircraft maneuvered in smooth, well-practiced formations that concentrated their fire to smash one after another enemy plane. Within thirty seconds, a half dozen Messerschmitts died in fiery explosions or retreated from the battle, too damaged to continue the fight. The odds had suddenly shifted drastically against the Germans and the four remaining planes broke contact and headed toward their base.
