Dan Thompson was born in Texas but grew up in the Midwest. Dan recently retired with over four decades of combined military and civilian service with the U.S. Army. He graduated from Athens State College and is a member of several community organizations including a writing group (the North Alabama Science Fiction and Cake Appreciation Society) and the Huntsville Plastic Modelers Society. His hobbies include scale modeling, writing (fiction and non-fiction), and digital publishing. He now occupies a good deal of his time with Thunderchild Publishing, a small company he started to preserve vintage science fiction and historical military fiction.
