Issue No. 77

June, 1954

Jet-Propelled Terror: (Cover Story; Nice Cover) A huge, apparently indestructible battering ram descends from outer space to destroy anything in its path. The Blackhawks neutralize the device by destroying the space station used to launch it.

The Fiendish Electronic Brain: A human-sized mechanical robot built as a computer runs amok and emits a deadly ray. The Blackhawks blind its mechanical eyes and follow it as it is guided back to its evil inventor, eventually destroying it (even though it is subsequently displayed intact in the Blackhawk museum).

Slaves of the Disabler Ray: The communists create a Blackhawk look-alike who appears to fool even the members of the Blackhawk team. He attempts to persuade the other Blackhawks to join the communists ("If you can't beat them, join them.") In fact, the imposter never succeeded in replacing the real Blackhawk, who only appeared to be in cahoots with the communists in order to infilitrate their ranks and destroy the deadly disabling ray weapon they had created.

Thanks to Doug Husak for submitting the synopsis for this issue and to David Chapman for supplying the cover scan.
